50 Days, 50 States; Day 26: Montana

Current Flag:

Flag of Montana.svg

This is another seal on bedsheet, but at least there’s the name of the state so you know where you are!

My Redesign:

This flag represents the name Montana with the mountains, and the gold and silver mountains represent the motto “Oro Y Plata.”

50 Days, 50 States; Day 25: Missouri

Current Flag:

Flag of Missouri

This is okay, as seals on bedsheets go, since it has that nice triangle and the stars. There are, however, good flags within this flag. If you look closely, you see the bear and crescent. Together, those could make a great flag.

My Redesign:

There we go! I kept the same colors, but modified the red a bit to match the background of the bear.

50 Days, 50 States, Day 24: Mississippi

Current Flag:

Flag of Mississippi

I guess this is an okay flag…OH MY GOD MISSISSIPPI WHY IS THAT THERE‽ …Who just puts a Confederate Battle Flag on their state flag? Why? This flag has a lot of work to be done on it…

Proposed Flag:

Stennis Flag' becomes 'Hospitality Flag' as creator steps down

This is called the Hospitality Flag. The stars represent Mississippi as the 20th state, the middle one being for Mississippi and the others being for other states.

My Redesign:

I basically used the same symbolism as the Hospitality Flag, but I kept the old triband. I kind of like the colors.

50 Days, 50 States, Day 23: Minnesota

Current Flag:

Flag of Minnesota.svg

Another seal on bedsheet. Nothing to see here.

Proposed New Flag:

The North Star flag features of blue over a field of green separated by an undulating white band. A yellow five-pointed star in emblazoned in upper left.

This flag represents the North Star and the waves represent represent the name Minnesota, a Dakota word which means “sky-tinted waters.” This is pretty okay.

My Redesign:

I basically used the same symbol as the North Star Flag, but I made the colors a bit more easy on the eye.

50 Days, 50 States; Day 22: Michigan

Current Flag:

Flag of Michigan.svg

This is an SOB, but I can see a good flag within it. Do you see the sun rising over the water? I think that could make a great flag.

My Redesign:

What did I tell you? This flag represents the sun rising over the great lakes.

50 Days, 50 States; Day 21: Massachusetts

Current flag:

Flag of Massachusetts

Seal on bedsheet. I have no words.

Variant Flag:

Naval Ensign of Massachusetts.svg

This is okay, actually. Pine tree is drawn from the New England flag. Still, white fields are annoying.

My Redesign:

The pine tree is from the New England flag, and the shield from the old reverse side of the flag. The red field is also from the New England flag.

50 Days, 50 States; Day 20: Maryland

Current Flag:

Flag of Maryland.svg

I actually really like this flag. Although it isn’t simple, it’s very memorable and the color scheme is great. Wouldn’t touch it if I wasn’t committing myself to this project.

My Redesign:

I used the Crossland Banner, which is more recognizable, with the Calvert color scheme. Sorry for the white spaces. This is a combination of two PNG images from SVG images of the Crossland banner reversed and normal from a Wikipedia downloaded PNG.

50 Days, 50 States; Day 18: Louisiana

Current Flag:

Flag of Louisiana.svg

This is actually pretty good. However, if you look at the Seal of Louisiana, you realize it’s just a S.O.B. in disguise. Sad.

My Redesign:

I used a symbol of Louisiana, the Fleur-de-Lys, to make the flag. This symbol is in the canton, and there are 18 stripes in the field that represent Louisiana as the 18th State.

50 Days, 50 States; Day 17: Kentucky

Current Flag:

Flag of Kentucky.svg

This flag is a classic seal on bedsheet. The proportions hurt my eyes. Who makes a flag that long? Ugh. The motto is nice, though.

My Redesign:

This flag is supposed to represent the seal of Kentucky. It shows unity and peace between different people, as is illustrated with the pattern in the middle.
